Review UsMeet Chris Gisler, MD
Chris Gisler, MD is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine. He has been practicing for over 10 years. After completing medical school at the University of Virginia, he attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for residency and fellowship where he served as both chief resident and chief fellow. Dr. Gisler grew up in Western Pennsylvania and returned to the region to practice after training. He is involved in the medical community both locally and nationally. Dr. Gisler is a co-medical director of the Washington Physician Hospital Organization; a member of the Renal Physicians Association, where he focuses on education and patient advocacy; and a member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of National Kidney Foundation Medical Advisory Board.
Dr. Gisler believes in the importance of early detection and treatment of risk factors for kidney disease. He partners with his patients to educate and empower them to make lifestyle changes through diet and exercise to preserve their kidney function. For patients with kidney failure, he is an advocate for transplantation and home dialysis to improve their quality of life.
In his free time, Dr. Gisler enjoys spending time with and learning from his children and wife, Dr. Linda Belayev, whom is also a practicing nephrologist in the community. He also enjoys running, playing soccer and is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
